Testing new LiDAR sensors and pulsed laser sources can be a tedious task. Each supplier often imposes different electrical and optical requirements in order to use their evaluation PCBs. That’s why Exciting Technology developed the Benchtop LiDAR System (BLS200) for <200m range demonstrations.

Now you can make your LiDAR testing procedures more consistent, portable, and easier than ever before.

This system can evaluate various Avalanche Photo Diodes (APDs) and Multi-Pixel Photon Counters (MMPCs). The BLS200 features adjustable low and high voltage outputs which can be utilized for Geiger-mode operation, negative and positive sensor bias, and dual DC rails for Trans-Impedance Amplifiers (TIAs).

The BLS200 also includes several SMA connection points for monitoring the laser pulse characteristics in addition to STOP and START LiDAR waveforms. Single-ended and differential sensor outputs can be connected to the driver board in order to obtain Time of Flight (ToF) information via the onboard TDC circuitry and OLED screen.

The BLS200 can be used for wavelengths ranging from 500nm to 2000nm. This allows the user to install different laser diode sources without needing to change any subsequent optics. The user can also configure the system for free-space or fiber-coupled testing by using the available 1% fiber tap.
