Waiting for light to bounce back

LiDAR or Light Detection And Ranging is a hot topic amongst several industries. However, the feasibility of LiDAR remains a difficult task. One aspect of our research investigates how to minimize the cost of a LiDAR system without sacrificing performance. To do this, we optimize and test lasers, receivers, apertures, pulse waveforms, trans-impedance amplifiers, and steering capabilities to push LiDAR into the realm of low-cost practicality instead of a high-end luxury.
